Who I Serve

I work with adults (18+ and out of high school) throughout Washington State who seek psychiatric care that addresses both the medical and psychological dimensions of mental health. Many patients find me after traditional 15-minute medication checks have left them feeling unheard or when they want deeper understanding alongside symptom management.

My practice is designed for individuals ready for collaborative treatment. Whether you're dealing with longstanding mental health conditions or facing new challenges, I provide thoughtful care that considers your whole situation, not just diagnostic criteria.

If you currently work with a therapist, I coordinate closely to ensure our approaches complement each other. If you don't have a therapist but would benefit from one, I help you find the right match. Some patients choose to work with me for both medication management and therapeutic discussion, particularly when they prefer fewer providers or face barriers to separate therapy.

Initial Psychiatric Evaluation

Your first appointment lasts 60-90 minutes, giving us time to explore your concerns thoroughly. This isn't a rushed intake with checkbox questions; it's a comprehensive conversation about your life and mental health.

During our initial evaluation, I'll explore:

  • Your current struggles and how they affect your daily life

  • Previous treatment experiences, both helpful and unhelpful

  • Your personal and family mental health history

  • Medications you've tried, including what worked and what didn't

  • Important life experiences that shape who you are today

  • Your understanding of what's happening and your treatment goals

  • Relationships, work, and other contextual factors affecting your wellbeing

By combining psychiatric assessment with psychological curiosity, I develop a treatment plan that makes sense for your specific situation. If medication might help, I explain my thinking clearly: which options I'm considering, how they work, potential benefits and downsides, and realistic expectations for improvement.

The first appointment begins our work together, but building understanding and trust takes time. I don't expect to solve everything in one session, and neither should you.

Follow-Up Appointments That Go Deeper

Follow-up appointments range from 30-60 minutes, depending on your needs. Unlike traditional medication management visits that feel like drive-throughs, these sessions allow space for meaningful discussion about your progress and ongoing challenges.

Each appointment typically covers:

  • How you're responding to current treatment

  • Life events affecting your mental health

  • Patterns we're noticing together

  • Medication adjustments if needed

  • Coping strategies and practical tools

  • Progress toward your goals

  • Planning next steps

My psychotherapy-informed approach means I might explore your relationship dynamics in the same session where I adjust your antidepressant dose. Sometimes we discuss how childhood experiences influence current anxiety. By considering psychological and biological factors together, treatment decisions become more nuanced and effective.

Visit frequency varies based on your needs and stability. Some patients benefit from more frequent sessions during difficult periods, while others prefer monthly check-ins once stable. We determine the schedule collaboratively based on what serves you best.

Areas & Conditions

I provide comprehensive treatment for various mental health conditions, with particular expertise in presentations where psychological and biological factors intertwine.

My practice focuses on areas where I continue advancing through ongoing education, conference presentations, and collaborative learning such as:

  • Differential Diagnosis and Complex Case Expertise

  • Trauma

  • Sleep Medicine & CBTi

  • Perinatal Mental Health

  • Psychoendocrinology

  • Neurodevelopmental Conditions

My psychological training helps me recognize when symptoms reflect deeper patterns or unresolved experiences. Sometimes what appears as treatment-resistant depression responds better when we address underlying trauma or relationship patterns alongside medication.

I work particularly well with patients who've found traditional psychiatric treatment incomplete, those managing complex presentations, or individuals who appreciate having time to process the emotional and practical aspects of their mental health.

Telehealth: Accessible Care Across Washington

All appointments occur through secure, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing. This deliberate choice makes specialized care accessible regardless of your location in Washington State. Please note that based on potential regulatory changes in 2026, one or two appointments per year may need to be conducted in person.

Telehealth advantages include:

  • Access to specialized psychiatric care wherever you are in Washington

  • Privacy and comfort of meeting from your chosen space

  • No commute time or parking hassles

  • Easier scheduling around work and life obligations

  • Continuity of care when you travel within Washington

Most patients find video appointments feel surprisingly natural. I maintain the same professional standards and therapeutic connection as in-person care.

I accept multiple major insurance plans and can provide documentation for out-of-network reimbursement when needed. Self-pay options are available with transparent pricing discussed upfront. Contact us to verify your specific coverage.
